THE battle for the smartphone launch of 2017 has two more contenders in the form of Google's brand new Pixel gadgets, announced today during the Search giant's annual conference in Silicon Valley.

Google launched the Pixel phone exactly a year ago today, in a bid to give Apple and Samsung a run for their money.

And it's bringing out two more snazzy gizmos that you can get your hands on from October 19.

There are two versions: the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL, starting at £629 for the former and £799 for the latter.

They boast the most advanced smartphone camera technology and unlimited storage capabilities - meaning you'll never have to delete a selfie.

Hardcore Android fans are in for a treat as Google makes the operating system that runs most phones on the planet and promises the best Android Oreo experience ever on these new gizmos - including automatic updates to the latest features and security measures.

The HTC-made phones seamlessly integrate Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps and YouTube.

It has a special Google Assistant button so you can command your phone to do things with ease.

Available for pre-order immediately in Just Black, Clearly White, and Kinda Blue, the Pixel 2 is available from October 19.

The Pixel 2 XL is also available to pre-order immediately in Just Black or Black & White and is available from November 15.

The 5-inch Pixel 2 features an AMOLED display that fits in your hands and in your pocket.

It's larger relative, the 6-inch Pixel 2 XL features a 3D curved glass front with a massive screen and fewer bezels.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will also feature the recently updated Google Assistant.

Owners will be able to speak to their phone and ask it to look up local events, send text messages and play music and likely sync it to Google's Home speaker.

Google's vision is a simple, helpful phone that has powerful features that matter like camera, memory and ease-of-use.

Specs wise, it's got a 12MP rear camera and a portrait mode that takes professional shots using a background blur, so the focal point truly pops.

The difference between that and Samsung and Apple's offering, it claims, is that it uses its dual camera in combination with machine learning to spot what should stay in focus.

And it's a vision that might see it as a viable contender for the gimmicks flaunted on the iPhone X.

The tech giant also unveiled its new version of is Home smart speaker, the Google Home Mini, costing £49.

Similarly to the Amazon Echo dot, it's a lighter version of its flagship that you can plug in at home and sync with your Google apps.

There's also the Google Home Max, which costs £399 and is a loud, proud, voice-activated speaker.

And if that wasn't enough Google-branded technology to whack on your Christmas list, there's more.

It's done the seemingly impossible and brought out a pair of headphones that can translate up to 40 languages in real-time, costing £149.

Google has updated their Chromebook, called the Pixelbook, too.
