Spotify poll reveals that Barack Obama is Brits’ dream podcast host – followed by a list of stars including Alan Partridge
SPOTIFY asked its users who they'd most like to hear on a podcast. It discovered that the fictional talkshow host is almost as popular a choice as the ex-President.
BARACK Obama is the UK’s most popular "dream" podcast host, with Alan Partridge not far behind him.
The top five "dream hosts" for UK listeners were the former US president followed by James Corden, Adele, Russell Brand and Prince Harry.
Just missing the top five was Steve Coogan's classic comic creation, Alan Partridge, who came in at number six.
Those who pledged allegiance to the radio presenter will likely be very excited for his upcoming BBC sitcom, said to surround Brexit proceedings.
He was followed by dad-with-a-bod David Beckham at number seven, and Kim Kardashian at number eight.
The research, released by Spotify, found that podcast listening is on the rise in the UK, with 68 percent of Brits saying that they are more likely to listen to podcasts today than three years ago.
The likes of Serial - a gripping tale in which an investigative journalist opens a cold case - may have something to do with it.
As people shun radio, it appears the spoken word is not yet dead.
Spotify’s Head of Podcasts, EMEA, James Cator, said: "Podcasts are rapidly increasing in popularity, both with our users, and as a growing category as a whole.
"Our research not only shows that a significant number of people in the UK are listening to podcasts on a regular basis but that there’s been a substantial increase in the popularity of podcasts in the last three years.
Spotify and Amazon's Audible have been upping their podcast libraries thanks to growing demand.
Spotify spoke to 1400 adults between the ages of 18 and 44.
