Snapchat users can now create ‘geofilters’ to make wedding, engagement and party pics much more personal

YOU might have heard of hashtags for weddings, but now Brits can create location-specific Snapchat filters for when they say "I do".

Snapchat is a smartphone app which allows you to send photos, videos, messages and drawings that you can time to self-destruct.

Now those planning a party can design, place and buy their very own Snapchat overlay for any event.

Geofilters are templates that are placed on top of pictures uploaded to Snapchat when they are taken in a designated area, which can stretch from the size of a house up to 100 football pitches.

Filters will be visible either for a couple of hours or several days - depending on how much you want to fork out.

Prices start at £5.99.

The filters take a couple of minutes to make using Snapchat's Creative Studio on the app.

It has lots of templates, designs and you can personalise with your own text, Bitmojis and stickers.

How To Create Your Own Snapchat Geofilter

  • Open Snapchat
  • Tap your Bitmoji in the top left corner
  • Tap the settings/gear icon
    Tap On-Demand Geofilters
  • Create your filter
  • Choose when and where you would like your Geofilter to appear
  • Pay via in-app purchases
  • Submit to Snapchat
  • Visit your desired location at the desired time to enjoy your very own Snapchat Geofilter

But make sure to do it in advance, as it takes about one business day to get app-ready.

Snapchat has nearly quadrupled in size over the last three years, with 166 million users logging in each day in mid-2017.

And with just under a third of those users logging on in Europe, Brits make up a sizeable chunk of those using the visual messaging app.
