SEEING DOUBLE

The ‘bothie’ could be the new selfie as Nokia’s new phone takes a snap of you AND what you’re looking at

FORGET the selfie - it is all about the “bothie” with Nokia’s new phone that takes a snap of you AND what you are looking at.

The firm’s new flagship - set to do battle with the new iPhone - uses both the front-facing camera and the rear one at the same time.

As well as for snaps, the Dual-Sight feature can be used for streaming video live on Facebook and YouTube.

The idea is to see the person and what they are taking a picture or talking about in a video.

Music fans might use it when live streaming a concert or festival to pals - to show them singing along, for example.

It would also be handy for those who do video podcasts - so they can be filmed talking while also showing what they are chatting about.

Or tourists could use when visiting different countries or towns as an alternative to traditional selfies.

A Nokia spokesman said: “Be less selfie, be more bothie. There are two sides to every story and the Dual-Sight feature of Nokia 8 is designed to help you create and share the full picture.”

It is the latest device in the comeback of Nokia phones. The first was a new version of the classic 3310 handset, unveiled in February.

The Nokia 8 is the first that is designed as a rival to the iPhone and other top-end handsets like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.

Both cameras on the Nokia 8 are rated at 13 MP - meaning each snap is made up of 13 million little dots - which is more than on the iPhone 7.

It has a 5.3 inch screen and the device is splash proof - though not water resistant like the iPhone and Samsung.

Other features include charging to 80 per cent full in half an hour and speakers that create the impression of surround sound.

The Nokia 8 is out in September for an expected £549 in four colours.

Nokia was once the biggest phone firm in the world.

But Nokia struggled after Apple’s iPhone and rivals like Samsung became popular and the Finnish firm was forced to sell its phone making business to Microsoft in 2014. Microsoft since ditched the brand.

The 3310 and other new Nokia phones will be made by HMD, a new Finnish firm that bought the licence to make Nokia phones for ten years.
