WhatsApp to add major new feature which could make your life a LOT more expensive
Smartphone owners may soon have yet another way of splurging vast amounts of cash without getting out of bed.
WHATSAPP appears to be trialling a payments system which might become available in the UK in the coming months.
A beta version of the latest update comes with "bank to bank transfer" function with a picture of a person holding a credit card in one hand and a smartphone in the other.
This could make arranging gigs or events and getting taxi fares off your pals after a night out a lot easier.
But for now, it appears only to be working in India.
A screengrab published by claimed that transfers are supported by the Unified Payments Interface, a payment system operated by the Reserve Bank of India.
It's not clear when the new feature will become available here.
You can already transfer money using Facebook messenger and Apple is planning a similar service for its iMessage app.
Industry experts believe it could be ready for iOS 11.
WhatsApp said it will launch new features once it reaches one billion daily users.
Many of us are holding out hope for an "un-send feature", which would retract a message after it has been sent.

There have been several rumours that the tech giant - owned by Facebook - is trialling the service.
If brought in, it could save instant message fans from the horrific embarrassment of sending cringe-worthy text or pictures to the wrong person.
