Elon Musk says artificial intelligence and killer computers are far more dangerous than North Korea

Billionaire fears super-smart technology could take over the planet and send humanity the way of the dodo

BILLIONAIRE Tesla founder Elon Musk has said artificial intelligence is a bigger threat to the future of humanity than North Korea.

The tech mogul published a tweet suggesting "the machines will win" after Donald Trump threatened to unleash "fire and fury" against  Kim Jong-un's repressive regime.

He said AI poses "vastly more risk" to the world than North Korea.

Musk is one of the world's most prominent critics of the unrestrained development of killer computers.

The Tesla founder recently said humanity needs to act NOW to stop artificial intelligence and killer robots wiping us out.

He also claimed AI "is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilisation”.

Musk is backed by a growing number of the world's brightest people including Professor Stephen Hawking, who is equally obsessed with the idea that artificial intelligence will one day turns on its creators and exterminate every human living on Planet Earth.

He said our species' technological prowess could actually lead to our downfall.

IS THIS HOW IT ENDS? Will China invent the artificial intelligence that wipes out humanity?

“I don’t think advances in artificial intelligence will necessarily be benign,” Professor Hawking said during an appearance on the Larry King show.

“Once machines reach a critical stage of being able to evolve themselves we cannot predict whether their goals will be the same as ours.

“Artificial intelligence has the potential to evolve faster than the human race.

“We need to ensure AI is designed ethically, with safeguards in place.”
