When will the iPhone 8 and iPhone X be released and how much will they cost?

Apple revealed the iPhone 8 and iPhone X on September 12 at 10am eastern time.

The Californian firm unleashed the brand new product at a glittering ceremony held in its new "spaceship" headquarters.

The iPhone X will be available to order in the US from October 27 and will cost $1,000, which equates to about £750 but is likely to cost at least £900 when it ships in the UK.

The iPhone 8 will start at $£699 for 64GB and the iPhone 8 plus $£799, shipping on September 22 in the US.

What new features will the iPhone 8 or the iPhone X have?

The iPhone X packs an edge-to-edge glass screen and features a Super Retina OLED display which measures at 5.8 inches with a 2436x1125 resolution screen.

Apple say this is the most durable iPhone yet but I'd still be keen to stick it in case to prevent any glass from potentially shattering.

It has no button on the front and has replaced the Touch ID with the Face ID facial recognition technology to unlock your phone.

It has a 12mp dual camera on the back which features both a telephoto and wide-angle lens and features a whole host of new camera software to make your pictures better than ever.

It will support wireless charging and can even be charged with third-party technology.

The iPhone 8 features roughly the same technology except for two obvious differences. It doesn't come with the Face ID tech and still uses Touch ID and it also features just one camera on the back.

When will the iPhone 8 be released?

The date, which had been widely circulated before it was officially acknowledged, fits with Apple's annual autumn launch of major new products.

The tech giant tends to stick to the same schedule every year – the iPhone 5, 5S, 6, 6S and 7 were all launched in September of consecutive years.

However, it's been claimed this much-anticipated flagship gadget will NOT be released in September - because it might end up having a different name.

The Californian firm is preparing to unleash a brand new product at a glittering ceremony held in its new "spaceship" headquarters on September 12.

Apple will probably unveil a high-end gadget called the iPhone Edition or perhaps the iPhone X, .

reported how a research note from Deutsche Bank claimed the iPhone 8 won't be released this year due to supply chain issues and "technical challenges".

Previous rumours had even suggested that delays in the handset's new fingerprint sensor would mean its release could be set back until October at the earliest.
