SEAT OF YOUR PANTS

Noonee ‘Chairless Chair’ lets workers sit anywhere without a seat – but would you strap one onto YOUR behind?

Firm is selling strange-looking chairs which prop you up when you need to take a weight off

CHAIRS are so 2016.

One manufacturer has created an exoskeleton which lets you sit wherever you like.

It's an innovative development for factory workers but is a depressing vision for what the office of the future might look like.

Forget "hotdesking" - keyboard bashers and screen sirens of the nine-to-five might be expected to sit on the spot.

The Chairless Chair is made by Swiss company Noonee and is aimed at those working on factory floors doing fiddly, back-breaking tasks without space for a chair.

It allows you to walk around freely but offers support when crouching, bending or squatting.

It can be adjusted to suit different heights - and widths - and is made of polyamide which is light and durable.

Noonee writes on its website: "These are simple devices focussed on improving ergonomics in the manufacturing industry, similar to exoskeletons but practical."

In a world where treadmill desks are already a trend - could the Noonee be next?

It seems utterly bonkers to imagine anyone agreeing to strapping themselves in before a stroll around the water cooler.

But when you consider how popular treadmill desks have become - it's not too much of a stretch.

The TrekDesk promises employees will lose a pound a week if they spend their entire day on it.

Exoskeletons are being trialled in military exercises in a bid to create an Avatar-style soldier.

The suit will also have "nerves" to monitor core body temperature, skin temperature, heart rate, hydration levels and body position

The US military inked a multi-million contract to provide its troops with bionic exoskeletons that can boost leg power and harness kinetic energy which can charge batteries.

It’s also expected to trial an Iron Man-style robot suit called Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit  (TALOS) in 2018.

But they are also helping disabled children and adults take their first step.

One little girl who has never been able to walk or talk due to a mystery illness took her first steps aged eight, thanks to a special harness that lets her walk on her dad’s feet.

Savannah West was able to help her five-year-old brother Sebastian decorate the family Christmas tree for the first time thanks to the equipment, which allows her to experience the sensation of walking.
