Netflix issues fix to help you remove all traces of your ex from your account after a break-up
You've broken up with your former lover... so why should you suffer their rubbish Netflix preferences for an eternity?
WATCHING Netflix and, erm, chilling is a popular pastime when you're loved up.
But when you've been stabbed in the back and hung out to dry by your conniving ex-lover, the film streaming service can serve as a nasty reminder of better times.
So it's kindly issued a fix for viewers who are being haunted by their ex's preferences.
This can also be applied to current squeezes, whose taste in telly might drive you up the wall.
It's all down to Netflix's recommendation algorithm, which shows up as "Recommended For You" on your screen.
How to remove your ex from Netflix
You need to turn off the Recommended For You history to remove all traces of your ex.
To switch this off, go to your settings and remove your Netflix history, a spokesperson kindly told .
Go to your Netflix profile and hover over your name in the top right corner.
Select Your Account.
Scroll to the bottom and select My Profile followed by Viewing Activity.
Here you'll see a list of everything you've ever watched on Netflix.
Click X to delete all the shows and within 24 hours they will be gone from your account - never to haunt you again.
This feature offers recommendations based on all the films you've watched, the ratings you've given as well as ratings chosen by Netflix members with similar tastes to yours.
It's very useful if you are the sole user of the account.
But if you shared it with your partner, their stuff is going to come up again and again.
And if you were always pretending to be into Gilmore Girls, you're going to get rom-com suggestions for a long, long time.
