APPLE's iPhone is the most popular camera in the world and is believed to be responsible for more snaps than any other device.

Now the tech giant has published a series of in-depth tips on how to use its gadgets to take the best possible images.

The Flickr photography site, which has 122 million users, shows that more photos are taken on the iPhone than with any other camera,

Sadly, for many people iPhone photography involves little more than pointing, snapping and hoping for the best.

But you could all be doing a lot better.

Apple has launched a website with simple step-by-step guides on how to give yourself the best chance of getting a great shot in a range of situations, from trying to shoot a selfie holding the camera with one arm to action shots and using low light to your advantage.

You can , but here is a quick guide to some of the best advice.

Shoot during golden hour

Arrive before sunset. Use the sun to front-light your subject. Tap the display to focus and slide to lower exposure. Shoot your photo.

Turn off the flash. Lock focus by pressing and holding anywhere on the display. Tap the display and slide to find the right exposure. Shoot your photo.

Shoot up to 10cm from your subject

Get close, up to 10cm away from your subject.

Tap the display to focus and slide to find the right exposure. Shoot your photo.

Use the available light

Find a light source. Turn off the flash.

Tap the display on the subject and slide to set exposure. Shoot your photo.

Shoot a panorama using slow and steady motion

Begin with camera in landscape. Switch to Pano mode.

Tap the shutter to start the Pano.

Start from the bottom and pan slowly and steadily.

Use the depth effect to mimic shallow depth of field

Launch your camera and slide to switch to Portrait mode.

Look for the “depth effect” cue to appear, usually when the subject is placed within 8 feet of your camera.

Shoot your photo.

Take 10 photos per second in burst mode

Hold shutter button to use Burst mode to continuously capture 10 photos per second.

Access your Photos album.

Select your favourite shot from the Burst mode photo collection.

Shoot a selfie with the timer

Switch to front-facing camera and steady your iPhone.

Set the timer by tapping the timer icon.

From the lock screen, swipe left to quickly open the camera.

Switch to the front-facing camera.

Press either volume button to shoot your photo

How to edit a selfie

Switch to front-facing camera and shoot your photo.

Go to your Photos album, select the photo and tap the edit setting.

Crop to create a better composition or tap the auto-enhance tool to edit.
