SELFIE ASSURED

Insurance companies will judge whether to cover you based on a SELFIE because ‘your face reveals all’

Insurance companies will judge you based on whether you have crows feet in your selfies and 'can tell if you've smoked'

YOUR selfie could soon determine whether you’re accepted by insurers based on whether you look too wrinkly for your age.

Researchers in the US say a new technology could allow customers to buy life insurance online in as little as ten minutes by simply scanning your mug.

Insurers could use new technology to tell how healthy you are with a selfie

Karl Ricanek Jr, cofounder of Lapetus Solutions, has created a tool called Chronos, which can spot tell-tale signs of premature ageing.

And if you’ve been living like a rockstar for too long, Chronos will give the game away.

“Your face is something you wear all your life, and it tells a very unique story about you,” .

He said there are several companies testing Lapetus facial recognition technology to estimate life expectancy.

It scans hundreds of points on your face to spot wrinkles and extract your body mass index, physical age and whether you appear older than you are.

“Smoking is going to be written on your face,” Ricanek says. “Even if you stopped smoking, once it’s written, it’s there.”

You could bypass it’s age tracking tech, but you’d have to go under the knife.

It can spot makeup, but not plastic surgery.

So if you want to keep those premiums down, you could always have a little work done.

And don’t even attempt to fool anyone by uploading a fresher-faced snap.

Chronos quickly verifies identity by comparing the photo to the one on your driver’s license and the date it was registered.

For now, Ricanek said several companies are testing out the technology, but there have been no confirmed insurers using it on customers yet.
