We put the Samsung Galaxy S8 camera to the test on a helicopter ride around London

Samsung invited us to try out its new smartphone from a height of 2,000 feet above the capital

AS the cliché goes, the best camera is the one you have with you.

So when you're choosing a smartphone, a good quality camera should be top priority.

Amateur photographers want a high MP camera, a good screen for viewing and some snazzy picture editing tools to get the perfect snap.

On paper, the brand new Samsung S8 smartphone ticks all the boxes.

It's got a 12MP rear camera, with a F1.7 lens and can shoot 4k video.

There's also an 8MP selfie-shooter, too.

But after being given some time with the new gadget, Samsung decided simply putting its cameras into the hands of journalists wouldn't cut the mustard.

And to put its camera to the ultimate test it invited us to take snaps of London from 2,0000ft in the air.

During the hour-and-a-half helicopter ride, the smartphone truly held itself.

We left on full battery, and were left with about 40 per cent after steadily snapping and taking films during the entirety.

With the assistance of aerial photographer Timo Lieber, we stuck our smartphones out of the chopper to try and get the perfect bird's- eye view.

And while our point-and-shoot skills left little to be desired, we managed to take some impressively clear, focused shots while being rebuffed by London's icy winds.

But don't take our word for it, here's a few of our best amateur shots.

See if you can guess the famous landmarks (answers below).
