Netflix Price Rise in the UK: What You Need to Know

It’s not clear when new prices will affect existing Netflix subscribers

The most expensive premium plan will now costs users £18.99, up by £1.

And the cheapest ad-supported tier has seen its first price hike too, also going up £1 from £4.99 to £5.99.

The new prices were quietly revealed on Netflix‘s subscription page today and will affect both new and existing users, the firm confirmed to The Sun.

A notification is expected to go out to members via email soon detailing the changes, which will depend on their billing cycle.

“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix,” a rep for the company said.

The move is also bad news for those who pay for extra members after Netflix banned password sharing.

An extra account outside your household will now cost £5.99 instead of £4.99, up by £1.

And an extra member on the ad-plan will now have to fork out £4.99 instead of £3.99.

Netflix last overhauled prices in the UK in December 2023.

Experts warned that a price surge was imminent in the UK after new higher fees were announced in the US, Canada, Argentina and Portugal.
