Sky Sports F1 is disappearing from all Sky packages until early January.

Now, it'll be known as Sky Sports Darts.

The move affects the standard, HD and UHD versions of the channel, found on satellite numbers 406, 864 and 857 respectively.

Sky Glass and Sky Stream subscribers don't get the standard definition broadcast, so will only notice the difference on channels 406 and 902.

The changes have come about for the PDC World Darts Championship.

This year's format will be the best of five sets in the first and second rounds of the tournament.

As the rounds progress, matches go to best of seven, then nine before reaching best of 11.

While the final will be the best of 13 sets.

The 32 highest-ranking darts players have already automatically qualified for the second round.

The pair will return to Ally Pally again, with the event running from December 15 to January 3.

Sky Sports F1 will return on January 6.

Sky Sports customers can watch the PDC World Darts Championship at no extra cost.

Those with the Complete & F1 packs will still have access to pre-recorded Sky Sports F1 entertainment.

And anyone with the Action pack will have temporary access to Sky Sports Darts along with Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Tennis.
