PUZZLE PAINTING

Netflix’s latest addition is the perfect solution to endless doomscrolling

And it's free with every level of subscription

AFTER a hard day of work it’s normal for most people to plop down on the sofa and endlessly scroll TikTok, Facebook, Bluesky or whichever social media site your poison is.

However, there is a better use of your time and phone that keeps your mind active while helping you to relax.

Mobile games are constantly evolving and while you can play Resident Evil 8 on your phone, it’s not the optimal experience.

The best mobile games are the ones that were created specifically for the platform, with short levels, no time pressures, and simple controls that you can use even while on the go.

Monument Valley 3 embodies all of these aspects, as well as being included with your Netflix subscription and free of annoying ads.

Each level takes place in the space between 2D and 3D as paths blend together impossibly like an M.C. Escher painting.

Rotate, move, and switch pathways in impossible positions to guide the character through each beautiful level.

Each frame of Monument Valley 3 looks like a painting that you would be happy to print off and frame.

And that’s the beauty of the series, not just in its look, but how it creates whimsical puzzles that are relaxing to play even in short bursts.

With the latest release, all three Monument Valley games are now available with Netflix, and they are all worth dipping into.

You probably won’t see huge changes between the games, but they are all delightful, offering dozens of puzzles to play.

Puzzle boffins won’t get the challenge they might be hoping for, but chapters do ramp up in difficulty with new shapes and mechanics.

It’s a puzzle game for the casual puzzler, but players of all skill levels will scratch their heads at points, and everyone can enjoy the gorgeous designs.

If you’re subscribed to Netflix, then strongly consider downloading this one and losing yourself in a whimsical world rather than doomscrolling through social media.
