MARVEL Rivals is just a few hours away from launch, and the upcoming superhero game brings a masive roster of playable characters.

The free-to-play 6v6 hero shooter is launching with a whopping 33 Marvel heroes and villians to try out.

The characters in Marvel Rivals take on different roles and specific heroes can team up for powerful synergies

Characters take one of three distinct roles: Duelist, Vanguard and Strategist, in a game that focuses on team composition.

The Duelists are your team's damage deals specialised in one-on-one combat with the opposing squad's characters.

At launch, there will be 18 Duelists, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Vanguards are the tankier heroes on your team, who are able to absorb massive amounts of damage dealt by your enemies.

Marvel Rivals announces release date with two new heroes

Captain America, Doctor Strange and Thor are just three of the nine Vanguards you will get to play as in the game.

There will also be six Strategists in Marvel Rivals, which provide healing and support to your team, but are more vulnerable in combat.

Loki and Rocket Raccon are two of the Strategists on the game's roster at launch.

Leaks by dataminers have pointed to another eight characters which were found in the game's config files, but won't be part of the initial roster.
