Palworld’s latest update causes multiple issues for players and it could be because of Nintendo

Changes are already on the way to fix the problems for players

PALWORLD has been controversial since before it was even released, with people making comparisons between it and Pokémon.

Once it finally launched people saw that Palworld had very little in common with Nintendo’s creature collector as the two games are from different genres.

Palworld is a survival crafting game, while Pokémon is an RPG, but there are some similarities between the games’ creatures.

Nintendo has launched a patent lawsuit against Palworld developer Pocketpair, though the reason for the lawsuit was not announced at that time.

Pocketpair has since claimed that the three patents that Palworld is apparently infringing surround the balls that catch and release creatures, and how the beasts move.

Palworld recently updated to version 0.3.11 and it has been the most controversial part of the game’s story.

The patch notes read: “Changed the behaviour of summoning player-owned Pals so that they are always summoned near the player.”

This change appears to have been made to clearly differentiate how Pals and Pokémon are released.

However, players have speculated that Pocketpair rushed the release of the patch, as it seems to have caused game breaking bugs.

Players immediately took to social media to report the issues and claimed to have had a response from the team on Discord.

On Reddit one user wrote: “One of the staff on Palword's Discord general discussion board straight up said that in his personal opinion people should maybe go play something else until the big December patch.”

People were speculating that the patch was rushed in order to comply with the lawsuit, but Pocketpair is already working to fix these new issues.

Another patch has already been released that helps with the problem of Pals clipping into the geometry.

While this was a smaller patch, it appears that Pocketpair is already working on a bigger patch to fix all of the problems.

Pocket Pals

Nintendo is known as being extremely litigious and has launched multiple lawsuits, take down notices, and cease and desists over the years.

Nintendo used to issue DMCA notices for Let’s Play videos of its games, but has since softened on them.

However, the company still tries to shut down things such as emulators and mods that are related to Nintendo.

Personally, a few creature designs aside, Palworld is a very different game to Pokémon, and the rights of small developers to iterate on bigger company’s ideas should be protected.
