More than 84,000 users across the US and the UK reported issues with the platform around 10:20am ET (3:20pm GMT) on 21 November.

Both the website and the app appear to have crashed, leaving blank screens and never-ending loading icons on thousands of devices.

Users have taken to rival social media site X (formerly Twitter) to write about their woes, with some going as far as saying the outage is the "worst day" of their life.

"Reddit being down means my posts are missing out on potential traffic and upvotes and karma this is literally the worst day of my life," one user wrote.

Another added: "I guess Reddit is down. How else am I supposed to waste time looking at cat and guinea pig pictures?"

A third person wrote: "Why is my Reddit not working smh how can i do my daily morning lounging in bed routine."

It's unclear what has sparked the disruption.

Reddit is currently investigating the issue, which it says affects desktop webpages, mobile webpages and the mobile app.

It's unclear when the app or website will be back up and running again.

Outages can often last for several hours at a time.

"Typical mess," a fourth X user wrote.

"Again?," asked a fifth.

Just yesterday, the platform suffered a similar incident, according to Reddit's server status , that had been resolved roughly eight hours later.

Although Reddit was able to roll out a fix about four hours after it began investigating the issue.

The previous outage on 20 November was caused by a bug in a recent update of the platform, according to Reddit, which apologised via its X account.
