Apex Legends players can pick up a free character and rare skin but only for a limited time
APEX Legends is one of the most popular free-to-play hero shooters, but there are always drawbacks to this model.
For Apex Legends, this means that most people have to work hard to earn the characters that they can use in the game.
However, you can now grab a free character and skin for Apex Legends with no cost and no grinding.
From Thursday, November 7, 2024, and Thursday, November 15, 2024, Apex Legends players can grab the character Ash and a Burning Chrome Epic skin for her.
There is a catch to this, however, as you need to play Apex Legends via the Epic Games Store launcher in order to redeem your free character.
However, Apex Legends does feature cross-progression, so if you unlock Ash and her skin on Epic Games Store, you’ll be able to use her on your platform of choice.
More in Gaming Deals
If you want to redeem Ash for yourself, you need to download the Epic Games Store Launcher and add Apex Legends to your account.
Then you need to sign in to Apex Legends using your usual EA account that you use on your preferred platform.
You can then claim the Ash Free Unlock Bundle via the store page either on the or through the launcher.
Open the game via the Epic Games Store launcher to confirm that Ash has been redeemed in-game, and that you are connected online so that she uploads to your account.

After she has been linked to your EA account, you can use Ash on your favourite platform via cross-progression.
Once you have checked on your preferred platform that Ash has transferred over, feel free to uninstall the Epic Games Store launcher if you like.
Turn to Ash
Generally, I’m against the idea of locking certain heroes behind progression and even new players should be able to access every playstyle.
Monetisation in free-to-play games should be exclusive to cosmetics to prevent a pay-to-win environment.
While it is a little bit of work, this will offer people access to a character that newbies usually couldn’t use, which is a consumer-friendly solution to this.
