MCAA: Why is TikTok obsessed with Minecraft college football trend?
MINECRAFT is one of the most popular video games of all time and it's gone viral once again on TikTok.
Users are recreating their favorite football teams on Minecraft and are organising huge competitions through the social media platform.
What is the MCAA trend?
Users have created teams on Minecraft which are inspired by some of the real-life football teams dominating college sports today.
One team is named Ole Moo, referencing Old Miss, and another is named Villager Tech, which references Virginia Tech.
Some of the virtual teams have related their re-branding to certain animals, and players have adapted their avatars to follow suit.
This has created bizarre scenes online including a cow giving a press conference, where the answer to every question is "moo".

When did the MCAA trend begin?
The first Minecraft College Football video to land on the platform belongs to a user named @luke.pro.minecraft.
The video appeared in July and shows an imaginary Chicken State team preparing for a match.
There are nearly 10,000 posts on TikTok with the hashtag #MCAA, meaning the trend has exploded on the social media platform.
Some players have even spent hours painstakingly recreating famous American stadiums and creating broadcast announcements to make the matches feel more real.

Accounts dedicated to the virtual teams have seen a spike in online engagement in this melding of two very different parts of online culture.
What does MCAA mean?
MCAA is a parody of the NCAA acronym, in the same way that Villager Tech is a Minecraft version of Virginia Tech.
The National Collegiate Athletics Association is the nonprofit organisation which runs the inter-college football matches which are loved across America.
The "M" in MCAA stands for Minecraft, which means that this new acronym stands for Minecraft Collegiate Athletics Association.
The Big 10, the oldest league in the NCAA, has also been reinvented in Minecraft as the Pig 10.
