Steam players have just hours left to grab 81-rated game at 85% off as sequel is announced

STEAM’s Daily Deals are a treasure trove for gamers, offering great games at hefty discounts, but they don’t last long.

One such deal offering a masterpiece title at 85% off is about to expire in mere hours, just as a sequel to the game was announced.

Alien: Isolation is currently selling for just £6.74 / $7.49 on Steam, down from the usual £34.99 / $39.99, to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary.

Isolation is set in the same world as the celebrated film franchise, and follows the journey of engineer Amanda Ripley.

As the daughter of Ellen Ripley, the iconic character played by Sigourney Weaver in the movies, you investigate the disappearance of your mother on an abandoned space station.

The game’s story takes place between those of the original Alien film from 1979 and its sequel, Aliens.

It’s an atmospheric survival horror game with heavy stealth elements, as you’ll have to avoid and outsmart the alien creature on the station.

Gameplay resembles more the original Ridley Scott film, rather than the action-packed James Cameron sequel.

Rated 81 on review aggregator Metacritic, Alien: Isolation has been praised for its visuals, atmosphere and sound.

The game’s fantastic sound design won it several awards, including a Bafta for Audio Achievement.

This deal on Alien: Isolation comes just as a sequel to the game was announced on Monday.

In a , the game’s creative director, Alistair Hope, confirmed that a new game is in the works.

He said: “On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

“Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development.”

No details about the Alien: Isolation sequel were shared, but Hope promised to reveal more when his team is ready.

In the meantime, players have just a few hours left to grab the original game at its current low price.

The Steam deal on Alien: Isolation ends on October 8, at 6pm UK time / 1pm ET, when the game will revert to its regular price.
