Fans were buzzing as reports leading up to the event suggested their might be a revival of the forgotten iPhone SE.

The iPhone SE 4, which Apple is rumoured to be working on, is now looking more likely to be released next year alongside the iPhone 17.

It is typically the cheapest device in each series, so Apple fans are gutted to be missing out on a cheaper model.

In February last year, Ming-Chi, an analyst at TF International Securities, claimed that Apple had restarted the iPhone SE 4 project as an economic downturn was squashing the consumer desire the buy new electronics.

Bloomberg's Mark Kleinman, an avid Apple tipster, also noted last week that Apple's supplies of the iPhone SE model were running low on the ground.

The low stock hinted that the tech behemoth might be clearing the shelves to make way for a new product.

"No announcement on #iPhone SE updates. The phone peasants can afford," one onlooker wrote on social media platform X.

Another added: "RIP iPhone SE #AppleEvent."

While a third noted: "Unfortunately, Apple isn’t planing to release one in 2024. Gotta wait until 2025!"

Apple introduced an iPhone SE 3 into its iPhone 14 line up in 2022.

This is far more affordable than the iPhone 14 Pro, which retailed at $999/£1,099.
