Amazon Fire Stick user uncovers hidden new button that saves money – update gadget now to benefit
AMAZON has rolled out an update to older Fire TV Stick devices that could save you money from a common problem.
Many will be familiar with accidentally falling asleep in front of the TV only to find it left on.
Of course, this is a waste of electricity - and therefore money.
Newer Amazon Fire TV Sticks have the ability to automatically switch your TV off after a long period of inactivity but older devices don't have this, leaving them on with a blank screen - until now.
A user has notice that Amazon has launched a software update which enables the feature for some older Fire Sticks too.
The option is known as the "No Signal" sleep mode and it's tucked away in the settings.

Amazon's 3rd-gen Fire TV Cube was their first to offer this button and it landed on others including the new Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max released last year.
"No video signal in standby (sleep mode) is available on Fire TV devices with Fire OS 7 in the new update (7.6.7.9) for those who haven't noticed yet," a user wrote on Reddit.
One happy Fire Stick owner responded: "Oh well done sir, this has been annoying the hell out of me for days."
The software update that includes the button is rolling out to the 2020 Fire TV Stick Lite and 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick, according to AFTVNews.
Hopefully, the update will roll out to other older kit next.
