The tech giant has just unveiled brand new Google Pixel 9 smartphones but has taken centre stage for many of the upgrades on offer.

Gemini, the company's AI gadget, is the big focus, with it appearing ever more on people's devices going forward and becoming "fully integrated" into the Android experience.

Going forward, when summoned, it will appear as an overlay on top of the Google app you’re using to ask questions about what’s on your screen.

In among the game-changing tools, users can now find practically anything within a YouTube video they're watching.

When calling up Gemini, you can ask questions about the video before you.

Google gives an example - imagine you’re preparing for a trip abroad and you have just watched a travel vlog — tap “Ask about this video” and ask for a list of all the restaurants mentioned in the video — and for Gemini to add them to Google Maps.

"Because Gemini has built deep integrations for Android, it can do more than just read the screen: It can interact with many of the apps you already use," the firm says.

"For example, you can drag and drop images that Gemini generates directly into apps like Gmail and Google Messages."

Gemini Live is also being unleashed - although it's a premium paid tool, Pixel 9 Pro buyers will get it free for a year.

It will allow you to interrupt mid-response to dive deeper on a particular point if you wish.

Google has introduced ten new voices to choose from as well.

Gemini Live begins rolling out today in English to Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android phones - and in the coming weeks will expand to iOS and more languages.

Meanwhile, Google has also addressed the possibility of inaccurate information with new models that are "faster and provide higher-quality responses".

"In the coming months, we’ll continue to focus on speed and quality and launch deeper integrations with Google Home, Phone and Messages," Google said.

"Today, we’ve arrived at an inflection point where we believe the helpfulness of an AI-powered assistant far outweighs its challenges, and we’re excited for you to try Gemini as the default assistant on the Google Pixel 9."
