FPS fans can grab free early access to another upcoming game on Steam
SHOOTER fans are excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to launch, but that won’t be out until October.
If you want to scratch your FPS itch before its release, there are a few games you can try out.
Ascendant is an upcoming FPS in a style the developers call Biopunk.
It’s a lot more colourful than other shooters, with lots of bright plant life and greenery.
Ascendant is a squad-based tactical shooter, so you can team up with your friends and enter the battleground together.
Four groups of three players enter the arena at a time, and they must retrieve one of the three Biocores.
More in Shooters
However, it’s not just the other players that you have to worry about, but the giant monsters that inhabit the overworld.
The map changes with every match, meaning that it’s a different layout with every attempt.
You can also command vehicles in the overworld to speed up gameplay and add some variance.
Ascendant has announced an open beta test so that you can try out the new IP for yourself.
The beta is open to anyone who wants to try, and all you have to do is sign up.
It’s only available to players via Steam, so you will need a high-end PC if you want to take part.
People will be able to play from August 3 to 4, and the starting time depends on your time zone.
Here is when you can enter the Ascendant beta depending on your time zone:
- August 3
- 7am PT (Western US)
- 10am ET (Eastern US)
- 3pm BST (UK time)
- 4pm CEST (central Europe)
- 11pm JST (Japan)
- August 4
