Nintendo fans think they’ve spotted the release date for the upcoming Nintendo Direct
BACK in May, Nintendo announced that a successor for the Nintendo Switch is on the way.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa announced that the Switch 2 was in the works, but that it wouldn’t appear in the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
This announcement not only told people about the upcoming console, but also that there would be a Nintendo Direct in June.
The exact release date for the Nintendo Direct was announced just that it was scheduled for June.
Nintendo usually holds a Nintendo Direct showcase in June in order to reveal the games that are coming to Nintendo Switch in the second half of the year.
As soon as it was announced, people immediately began speculating about when the showcase would be held.

While most of this is pure guesswork, an accidentally released video gave more concrete information on a date.
Innersloth, developer of the hit party game Among Us, posted a video for an update for the game on YouTube, that was supposed to be published on June 18.
People speculate that this trailer was due to be released following the announcement during the Nintendo Direct.
Among Us usually posts news of larger updates during Nintendo Directs, leading people to make this connection.

The video was quickly taken down, but the damage had already been done.
The now-removed trailer also says the update is “out now” suggesting a shadow drop of the update during the Nintendo Direct.
Of course, while it is confirmed that there will be an Among Us update on June 18, it doesn’t mean that it will be during the Nintendo Direct.
Nintendo has also been known to change the timing of a Direct following leaks of the date online.
