I remember playing the very first Delta Force game at an internet café in the late ‘90s, but the once-iconic tactical shooter series hasn’t had a new entry since 2009.
Tencent’s TiMi Studios are enthusiastic about bringing the hugely popular series back to life as a modern FPS game with Delta Force: Hawk Ops.
The developers behind Hawk Ops are not the only ones excited about Delta Force’s comeback, as the upcoming game already has more than 1 million pre-registrations.
Delta Force is best-known for its crossover with the Black Hawk Down film and book, and many fans want that campaign again in modern form.
We got hands-on with an early build of the game, and so far it looks very promising.
Like most shooters now, Delta Force: Hawk Ops will feature both free-to-play multiplayer modes and a Black Hawk Down campaign that players will be able to purchase separately.

The story campaign is meant as the most challenging part of the game, and definitely not designed for beginners, but rather as an extra for die-hard fans of Delta Force.
On the other hand, the multiplayer part of the game, will adjust in difficulty based on your skill level.
There are two main multiplayer modes – Havoc Warfare, which is a PvP mode taking place on large-scale battlefields which are 100% remakes of classic Delta Force maps.
Dozens of players are split between attacking and defending positions and regardless of the result of each match, you will gain weapons and equipment to use in future matches.

Tactical Turmoil is Hawk Ops’ extraction mode and it ups the stakes significantly, as any items you collect during these matches you will lose if you fail to extract.
In this mode, you complete missions, defeat bosses and grab loot in teams of up to three players.
As a free-to-play game, Delta Force: Hawk Ops will have microtransactions, but the development team was very careful about their impact on the overall experience.
Microtransactions will be only for cosmetic items, and the developers have extensive experience doing cosmetics for Call of Duty Mobile.
Delta Force: Hawk Ops will have five classes of operators with two characters from each class at launch.
Of course, the developers plan to expand the initial roster with more operators post-launch, and while the game is not a hero shooter, each operator has its own special skills.
Weapons are the main attraction in the game, with countless modification options that alter the way each gun plays in matches.
Even though we caught just a small glimpse of Delta Force: Hawk Ops in a 1-hour hands-on preview, the game had a lot to offer and is definitely one to watch for every FPS fan.
