Samsung brings back much-missed phone feature that prevents your screen from breaking in latest free Android upgrade

SAMSUNG users have noticed a much-missed feature has returned to their phones today.

The tech giant has introduced a number of new perks as part of its latest One UI 6.1 update.

This includes some fresh camera upgrades as well as top AI tools.

But the update has also re-introduced some old favourites that mysteriously disappeared.

We recently learnt how a cherished battery setting was brought back to life.

Now it seems Samsung has also resurrected another you may not immediately notice.

While it may seem minor the feature is loved by fans because it helps save their screen from damage.

Not the sort of damage caused by drops - only a strong case and more care can fix that one.

To prevent this from happening, smartphone makers have a trick - simply shift the position of icons slightly every so often.

It's so slight that you won't even notice they've moved.

Samsung users noticed that the feature partially disappeared with the last One UI update - UI 6.

But since One UI 6.1 was released full OLED burn-in protection is back.

It's an automatic tool so you don't need to do anything in the settings to benefit.

"Just got the update for One UI 6.1, and burn-in protection is back!" one user wrote on Reddit.

"The feature got removed (or forgotten, maybe?) going from 5.1 to 6.0, but thankfully it's back."

One UI 6.1 is currently rolling out to selected devices, including Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 devices.
