Amazon Fire TV Stick user complains ‘it’s a really stupid process’ over remote mishap – may be entitled to free upgrade

AN Amazon Fire TV Stick user has revealed frustration over a remote issue.
The comments were posted to the popular Reddit forum r/FireStickHacks.
"Is the fire stick remote supposed to die this early," the Fire Stick user .
"Had it for less than a year and the remote already died on me.
"Tried new batteries, holding the home button, everything. Is this normal?
"I know I can use my phone as a remote but it doesn’t have volume or power off controls.
"Do I just need to accept it and buy a new remote?"
The confused Redditor recieved several replies from other Fire TV Stick owners.
"Had this happen. Contacted Amazon and a new one was sent the same day.
"I didn't have to fight for it so assume it's a common issue. Had the new one over a year now and no issues at all," one person advised.

"If still under warranty you should be able to get a replacement.. In the meantime you could use “Amazon Fire TV” app as a remote from a phone or tablet, it’s available for android& IOS devices… it’s a little clunky to use but should be Ok for short term until you get a new remote.." another advised.
Amazon Fire TV Stick users with remotes that are faulty but under warranty should be able to get them replaced for free.
If you're remote is older, you may have a trickier time trying to fix it.
It is possible to replace the batteries but you may find you need to purchase a new remote.
