GOOGLE might be one of the biggest internet companies in the world but its futuristic Silicon Valley office is still plagued by terrible WiFi.

The connection at the tech giant’s new swanky, eco offices in San Francisco is so bad that staff are having to go outside just to use the internet.

The “Bay View” building in California was built at a huge expense to house staff working on Google’s latest artificial intelligence projects.

At the time, the tech giant said they had created a "prototype for the workplace of the future" with their design.

But the bizarre circumstances mean that employees are faced with no other choice but to take their laptops outside in order to get their work done.

And despite Google’s $1.7trillion (£1.3trillion) valuation, managers are said to be telling staff to go to a nearby cafe to get reliable WiFi connections.

Employees blame the issues on the wave-like designed canopy roof which is fitted with tubular steel and solar panels to power the building entirely on electric energy.

They say its shape is eating up the signal like “The Bermuda Triangle”, according to Reuters.

Google had been very proud of its eco-friendly building and even wrote a book extolling the virtues of its Silicon Valley office.

"Since Google’s founding in 1998, we’ve relentlessly pursued this ethos of putting the user first," a line in the publication reads.

"It’s a human-centric mindset that applies to how we approach our product and services, but also extends to how we design our physical spaces and places.”

Offering "flexible places designed to inspire innovation, big ideas and community”, the building was the height of efficient working.

As well as open spaces, plenty of sofas, an on-campus hotel, laundry room and bikes to charge phones, the building boasted environmentally-friendly credentials.

It was designed by British architect Tom Heatherwick who is turning the BT Tower into a luxury hotel.

A Google spokesperson told Reuters that “we’ve had WiFi connectivity issues in Bay View” and that the company was working on a fix.

Poor WiFi isn't the only fire Google has had to put out in recent times.

Last month, the internet giant was forced to respond to a viral post claiming that Gmail is shutting down.

The wild hoax was spread on X - formerly known as Twitter - which led to fears millions would lose their precious emails.
