Instead of browsing through apps, the AI phone - officially dubbed the T Phone - magically creates interfaces as they're requested.

The handset is just a concept for the moment but developers Deutsche Telekom, in corporation with leading chip maker Qualcomm and Brain.ai, hope it could pave the way for an app-free future.

All you have to do is tap an AI icon on the home screen or the power button and the tech will get to work.

An early version of the handset was shown off at a major event in Barcelona this week.

According to , some apps are actually on the smartphone but only the AI can interact with them.

"Smartphones brought us the apps that we love today," said Sean Seaton, from Deutsche Telekom.

"Up until now, apps were key for smartphone experiences.

"Today we usher in a brand new era with a visionary AI experience that will change the way we look at devices, in particular smartphones, forever.
