FOLLOWING the announcement that formerly Xbox-exclusive games would be coming to other platforms, fans were worried that Xbox could be dropping out of the console market.
Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves have all been confirmed to be released on PlayStation or Switch sometime this year.
However, Xbox disputed claims that this change means the company will no longer produce consoles.
In a recent Xbox Podcast, the President of Xbox, Sarah Bond, said that there would be information on a new console in mid-2024.
A presentation leaked by Xbox during the FTC court case showed a new Xbox Series X, codenamed Brooklin.
Brooklin would be a cylindrical Xbox Series X with no disc drive, 2TB of storage, and a scheduled release date of October 2024.

When the presentation for Brooklin was exposed, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer admitted that “so much has changed” since the document was made.
We know this is true as the document stated that a black Xbox Series S, codenamed Ellewood, was set to be released in July 2024.
However, this console is already out, having launched in September 2023.
A new report suggests that Brooklin has been changed to white, to match the swapped colours of the Xbox Series S.

It also suggested that it could be released as early as June 2024, but we think this is unlikely given that Bond said there would be a new console announcement around August 2024.
The October 2024 release date seems to be the most consistent given official announcements from Xbox.
Fans have noticed that the price of the Xbox Series X has been dropping, which also suggests that an updated console is on the way.
Sony did the same shortly before the new PlayStation 5 model, known as the PS5 Slim, was revealed.
The updated Xbox Series S sold for the same amount as the original, and it is also believed that the new Xbox Series X will be a similar price.
