ELDER SCROLLS fans had been hoping to hear something about a full follow-up to Skyrim at Bethesda's pre-E3 showcase in Los Angeles and, eventually, got satisfaction.

Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed the existence of The Elder Scrolls VI at the very end of his firm's annual shindig with a very brief trailer.

When is TES6 coming out?

Not for some time yet. Before revealing Elder Scrolls VI, Bethesda announced another single-player focused RPG called Starfield which will be coming out first.

ZeniMax Online Studios game director Matt Firor indicated that the firm would be "free and clear for a long time" before it came out.

He also indicated the gap between Bethesda Softworks games in the past was still a good guide, suggesting that Starfield won't be here until 2020 at the earliest, and that fans will be lucky to see The Elder Scrolls VI before 2022.

It was also confirmed at PAX East in 2019 that the game wasn't going to be at E3 2019. Potentially even more worrying for Elder Scrolls fans is that Starfield won't be there either.

Given the gap needed between the two titles, we could be waiting a very long time for TES6.

The first part of the title of the game was confirmed, as was the fact it would be a traditional single-player experience

Is there a trailer yet?

Trailer is a rather strong and misleading word for what the only video revealed so far for Elder Scrolls VI.

All that has been shown was a 20-second flythrough of a pretty but barren landscape, from some foggy mountains towards the coast, with some hilltop castle ruins visible in the foreground towards the end.

At the announcement, Bethesda's marketing boss Pete Hines hinted that this would be a "next generation" experience, but did promise it would be traditionally single player, unlike the newly revealed Fallout 76.
