Upcoming wrestling release will see a number of popular match types return
WWE 2K24 is the next title in gaming’s most popular wrestling series, and it’s only a few months from release.
We know that Cody Rhodes will be the Standard Edition’s cover star, and the full game will be out soon.
Aside from the cover star and release date revealed, several fan-favourite match types will be making their return.
Some have been absent from the series for over a decade, and fans are overjoyed with the return.
Here are all four returning match types:
- Special Guest Referee (last seen in WWE 2K14)
- Ambulance Match (last seen in Raw vs Smackdown 2010)
- Casket Match (last seen in WWE 2K15)
- Gauntlet Match (last seen in WWE 2K14)

Special Guest Referee matches allow the player to assign a famous wrestler to referee a match.
You can control the referee during the match, count pins, call disqualifications, and if you like, push the match in one wrestler’s favour.
Ambulance and Casket matches are similar in style. Both matches only end when the other wrestler is put in the titular object.
Gauntlet matches see wrestlers compete in one-on-one matches, where the winner gets to compete against the next opponent.

When the final wrestler goes down the last person standing is declared the winner.
In WWE 2K14, only three opponents could be selected, but fans are hoping there will be more in the upcoming game.
The usual Showcase Mode will be themed around 40 Years of Wrestlemania, letting you recreate classic moments from the show.
WWE 2K24 launches on March 8, 2024, for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
