New gaming subscription service has launched – and it’s the most expensive yet
AS we enter the digital age, more people are moving to subscription services rather than buying games.
There used to be just one main subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, where most new games would end up.
However, a lot of companies are now creating their own services, meaning gamers need more subscriptions in order to play the games they want.
The latest to try to encourage people to their subscription service is Ubisoft, the publisher and creator behind big-name games like Assassin’s Creed.
Ubisoft+ is changing, and there will now be two tiers of the service, Ubisoft+ Classics on PC, and Ubisoft+ Premium.
Ubisoft+ Classics is available for players on PC and some PlayStation Plus subscribers, and will comprise a library of Ubisoft’s older games.
More in Subscriptions
The company has given the examples of Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion for the library and claims that it will also increase over time.
This tier is only $7.99 a month for PC gamers, and it is also available for free as part of PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium.
If you want to play new games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, then you will have to purchase the more expensive tier.
Costing a whopping $17.99 a month, Ubisoft+ Premium will offer Ubisoft’s classic games as well as new releases.

Ubisoft says that the service adds value by not only giving players the base game, but also any premium editions it includes.
This means that subscribers will be able to play games earlier as some games’ deluxe editions have up to seven days of early access.
Still at $17.99 it is one of the most expensive subscription services available, matching PS Plus Premium, and $1 more expensive than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
However, Ubisoft has a number of big-name games scheduled for this year, following the fantastic launch of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
The long-delayed Skull and Bones is set to launch next month, while Star Wars Outlaws will be released later in the year.
Assassin’s Creed Jade, a mobile addition to the series, could be added to the service, and Assassin’s Creed Red may also be released.
If you want to learn more about Ubisoft+, check out how the company thinks gamers should be “comfortable” with losing their games.
