WHAT IS OPTIMUS?

Optimus is a humanoid that Tesla has been developing as a general-purpose robot that will help with simple or dangerous tasks.

Tesla first announced the concept in 2021 and unveiled the prototype in 2022.

The robot features a realistic human look, with the initial prototype standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 125 lbs.

In one section of the clip, the robot walks like a person thanks to "actuated-integrated electronics and harnessing."

Tesla also notes that the robot can now walk with 30% more speed and comes with "brand new hands."

To show off its hands, the robot is seen handling delicate eggs as it picks them up and places them down.

With regards to its weight, the bot has seen a total of a 22-pound weight reduction.

Tesla concluded the video with a few Optimus 2 robots dancing to music.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Musk revealed in 2022 that the bot will be able to carry out everyday tasks, such as going grocery shopping at the supermarket or mowing the lawn.

It could also be used to care for elderly people, or even as a sex partner.

He explained the main advantage of the robot would be to limit menial tasks: "I think essential in the future, physical work will be a choice. If you want to do it, you can."

The X-owner added that the bot is intended to be friendly and navigate through a world built for humans.

The SpaceX founder even thinks humanoid robots could one day develop personalities – and provide companionship for humans.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Musk has noted in the past that the bot would cost no more than $20,000.
