Four popular Google apps and gadgets being discontinued in 2024 – save your info now before they vanish forever
GOOGLE is well-known for having culled dozens of apps and gadgets over the years – and four more are joining the graveyard in 2024.
Some are newer and others are very old, but they all share one thing in common: they're doomed.
Google Podcasts
Google Podcasts launched around six years ago as a way for Android users to listen to podcasts.
But the company is shutting it down, and creating a migration tool to move your subscriptions to YouTube Music.
The migration process will begin in the coming months.
It's unclear how long that will take however, as Google has only revealed a vague "2024" timeline for killing off the Podcasts app.
Jamboard
The Jamboard was announced way back in 2016 as a large physical tool for collaborating.
It's a giant 55-inch touchscreen with a 4K resolution that was meant to act as a kind of digital whiteboard.
There are other options on the market, and Jamboard's are costly at $4,999.
So Google has announced that the product is being killed off, with updates ending on September 30, 2024.

Similarly, the Jamboard app will also be discontinued.
You'll have some time to migrate your data from your Jams to other apps like FigJam, Lucidspark or Miro, according to Google.
The mobile apps and web client will all stop working properly, losing access to saved cloud content.
Google DropCam
DropCam is a series of Wi-Fi cameras that launched around 15 years ago.
Google picked up the brand in 2014 – as part of its Nest Labs – for $555million.
The Nest Cam was ultimately released as a replacement to DropCam.
Now DropCam services are set to end on April 8, 2024.
It's part of a big shift to Google Home, which is also seeing the old Nest Secure system retired too.
After April 8, you'll no longer be able to access DropCam cameras from the Nest app.
However, you can get a free wired Nest Cam if you're a DropCam owner willing to subscribe to Nest Aware.
