The tech giant has also introduced NameDrop to the AirDrop family.

Apple explains on : "Hold your iPhone near someone else’s to swap phone numbers, email addresses, and Contact Posters with NameDrop.

"You can also initiate an AirDrop transfer, or start a SharePlay session, when you bring two phones close together."

You'll need iOS 17.1 or watchOS 10.1 to use NameDrop.

To use it, hold your phone close to the top of your friend's iPhone.

Do the same if you're sharing from iPhone to Apple Watch or between the same devices.

The most important thing is that the sharing gadgets have to be very close.

You should see NameDrop appear on both screens if your Bluetooth is turned on.

Now, you can share and receive contact cards.

Cancelling is easy if you NameDrop information by mistake.

Just move your device away or lock your phone before the transfer is complete.

Apple notes: "NameDrop only works for sending new contact information, not updating an existing contact."

Holding two iPhones close also has other uses.

You can do this to access a feature called SharePlay.

SharePlay lets you instantly stream content or listen to music from another person's phone.
