CALL of Duty is one of the biggest games on the planet releasing on multiple platforms.

You can buy it on Xbox, PlayStation or PC, and all platforms will give you a similar experience.

Similar but not equal, as some versions receive exclusive items, and others have improved graphics or playability.

However, Xbox has now purchased Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard for a massive $69billion (£55billion), meaning that it now owns the IP.

As part of the acquisition Xbox has promised that Activision Blizzard games will have parity across all consoles.

This means that every version of Call of Duty will be exactly the same, no matter which console you own.

More in Call of Duty

However, Activision Blizzard made a deal with PlayStation before the acquisition, which should be upheld even after Xbox’s purchase.

Part of the deal is that those who own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation were offered the exclusive Oni skin.

This skin was supposed to be exclusive for PlayStation owners for a year after the game’s release on October 28, 2022.

However, since yesterday (October 17), players on both Xbox and PC have claimed that they can also use the PlayStation-exclusive skin.

Technically, the skin should only be available after a year has passed, which would mean it has been released almost two weeks early.

The early release could also be a mistake, where the change was supposed to happen with the next update in a few weeks.

Those who have seen the Oni skin claim that it first appeared after the last update.

Some have theorised that Xbox chose to push the update out early since the acquisition, but there has been no public statement claiming this.
