The iPhone 15 models have faced a number of complaints since their long-awaited launch on September 12.

Just days ago, iPhone 15 owners complained that their devices were losing power when they were meant to be charging.

But the problem customers are talking about most is the 'mysterious' overheating issue, which has left handsets too hot to even hold in some cases.

Several videos on social media showed customers temperature checking their iPhone 15 Pros, hitting highs of between 39 and 42 degrees Celcius.

A separate report from  claimed that sitting on the Home Screen for just two minutes caused the device to overheat.

It's not the first time this has happened with a newly unveiled iPhone.

Apple fans in 2018 also suffered through a 'mystery overheating bug' with the iPhone X.

But recent customers worried that this would permanently damage their battery.

During the immediate frenzy, it had been suggested that the overheating problem was a software issue that emerged with the iOS 17 update.

However, an unnamed spokesperson has since told Bloomberg that Instagram, Uber and the game Asphalt 9 are apps that could cause the devices to "run warmer than normal."

This is likely due to the face that they are high-intensity apps that require video streaming, location services and Wi-Fi.

The company further told Forbes that a overheating fix should have arrived with iOS 17.1.

Asphalt 9 is a multi-player racing game.
