Rare fossil ‘from Age of Dinosaurs’ unearthed in India as scientists race to confirm if ‘it’s 180-million-year-old egg’
A SCIENTIST claims to have unearthed a rare dinosaur egg fossil in India.
The expert suspects the egg is nearly 180 million years old.
Dr. Narayan Das Inkhiya has been credited by Indian media as the person who found the egg.
He was said to be digging at a hilly site in Jethwai-Gajroop Sagar in Jaisalmer, India.
According to , he said: "This could well be a dinosaur egg fossil nearly 180 million years old.
"It was discovered in this area of Jaislamer, where in 2018 the fossil of a herbivorous dinosaur was also found."
The herbivorous dinosaur in question dates back to 167 million.
It was a huge discovery because the species was previously undiscovered.
The new species was called Tharosaurus Indicus and would have been large with a long tail.
It's unclear whether the fossilized egg discovery is related to the plant-eating dinosaur.

Dr. Inkhiya is a senior groundwater scientist, according to .
He plans to hand the egg fossil over to the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
Experts will then be able to carbon date it and reveal when it's from.
They may also be able to work out what type of create birthed the egg.
Dr. Inkhiya suspects the egg could have come from any dinosaur from that time period.
He says the fossil is around one inch long and weighs about 100 grams.
