iPhone 15 revealed with new USB port and cable plus surprise color option at Apple event
APPLE on Tuesday revealed the new iPhone 15 range at the company’s annual event in California.
CEO Tim Cook described the new iPhone as "absolutely incredible."
It comes in a range of new features and colors.
The biggest change for users will be the new charging point.
Old iPhone chargers will no longer work with the phone.
The port has now been replaced with USB-C.
It does, however, mean you'll now be able to charge your AirPods and Apple Watch with the new iPhone charger.
Other changes include the fact the iPhone 15 screen has a new floating Dynamic Island at the top of the display.
That's a similar design to last year’s iPhone 14 Pro.
It's got a new contoured edge and is color-embedded throughout.
A new pink color was presented, as well as yellow, green, blue, and black.
The iPhone 15 is said to be built to last with a strong glass screen.
The new iPhone also features a Super Retina XDR OLED display.
It promises a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, with a max brightness of 2,000 nits when it's sunny.
The greatness of the new dual camera system is also being promoted by Apple as they revealed the phone is a 45-megapixel device.
Apple has added new software and hardware so the iPhone will perform better in challenging lighting conditions.
Camera highlights include Night Mode and Portrait Mode, which are said to be improved.
The new iPhone 15 is powered by last year’s A16 Bionic chipset.
It also has a new Ultra Wideband chip that lets use find your lost smartphone from further away than before.
The iPhone 15 has a starting cost of $799.
In comparison, the larger iPhone 15 Plus costs $899 to start.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
Apple has also revealed the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which are more expensive gadgets in the range.
The devices have been described as the most powerful iPhones yet.
Both phones have a new titanium design, which replaces the old stainless steel frame.
Apple has also given the iPhone 15 Pro the thinnest border ever on an iPhone.
It also has the "toughest glass materials in the industry".
The Mute button has been changed to an action button that can do different things.
It can still mute your iPhone, but it can also turn on Do Not Disturb, launch the camera, or launch a custom Shortcut.
The camera for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max is more advanced than the iPhone 15 and Plus models.
It features a 3x optical zoom camera.
But on iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple has added its longest zoom yet.
This is 5x optical zoom at 120mm focal length, which Apple is calling a “state of the art telephoto camera”.
The Max's camera is said to be more powerful than ever and suitable for photographers and filmmakers.
All new iPhone models are available to pre-order on Friday, September 15.
