Fitbit owners receive a free upgrade TODAY – check if you’re eligible now

FITBIT owners have snagged a free upgrade today, with up to three new features to be ready for use starting this week.

Google is offering Fitbit owners the same customary short and sweet 'feature drops' that it does with its Android phones.

The star of the show will be the three new clock faces Fitbit owners will get to choose from, giving them a better variety when it comes to customising their tech.

However, not every Fitbit customer is eligible for this upgrade.

The new designs are available to those with the Charge 5, the Luxe, and the Inspire 3 on the Sense 2 and Versa 4 devices.

To change your watch face, simply long press the home screen and select a new one.

Google has also made it easier for those with the Charge 5, the Luxe and the Inspire 3 to access all workout options, which will now be listed in the exercise menu.

Gone are the days of being forced to open the Fitbit app on your phone to adjust the list.

The more recently used a workout, the closer to the top of the list it'll be - making it much easier to find the sessions you gel with.

Notifications on fitness trackers are now more readable in more languages, with support for right-to-left text rolling out.

Although, it should be noted that this feature is only available for the Sense 2, the Versa 4, the Charge 5, the Luxe, and the Inspire 3.

Fitbit Premium subscribers are also expected to find their Daily Readiness Score in a more visible place before - although Google has scrimped on the details.

The features might keep customers on side following complaints over a lack of new features - and the axing of some popular ones.

Google bought Fitbit for $2.1billion (£1.6billion) in 2021, but it's the first time it has introduced new features to the fitness device as part of its wider Pixel features package.

But changes to the product this year, as part of Google's app streamlining efforts, had turned customers sour.

The tech giant got rid of the Challenges and Adventures features, alongside the virtual rewards system in March - much to users' dismay.

There has also been a push to get Fitbit users to transition to using Google accounts to log into the exercise app by September 2025, which customers are less than impressed by.

In response to a renewed push for the shift in June, one Redditor under the username @Arrowtip said: "I don’t think I’ll have a Fitbit by 2025, so I probably won’t transition in exchange for literally no new features…"
