FALL DOWN

Gamers are just realising that it’s getting difficult to find players for Xbox’s latest big release

CONCURRENT player numbers have dropped to new lows for Xbox’s latest triple-A release.

While there was a huge number of people playing at launch, just a few hundred are still playing online.

Redfall released at the start of the month, and players rushed to grab Xbox’s vampire shooter.

However, it wasn’t long before players were turning off due to a number of issues.

Common complaints include game-breaking bugs, particularly on PC, and poor game design.

Xbox Game Studios CEO Phil Spencer has apologised for the issues and promised that fixes are on the way.

More in Redfall

Despite this, people were still turned off from playing Redfall, as negative player ratings saw it voted as one of the worst Steam games of all time.

This poor reception now seems to be affecting player numbers which are much lower than people were expecting.

Around the time of launch, Redfall had around 6,000 concurrent players according to .

However, the daily average is now around just 200 players, with days peaking at around 300.

It seems that PC isn’t the only place where Redfall is losing steam.

At the time of release, it was in the top five games played on Xbox consoles.

However, just three weeks after launch, it is struggling to stay inside the top 30.

While free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Roblox, and Apex Legends always dominate these lists, there are a number of recent releases and classics near the top.

Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Minecraft are all popular picks, while Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor seem to be the most popular recent releases.

There is no timeline for when fixes will come, but in our Redfall review we could see the game’s potential.

We hope that performance issues can be fixed and more people will come back to try it in the future.
