Billions of Gmail, Outlook, iPhone and Android users warned to press hidden blue button – don’t let your money disappear
WHATEVER device you use to access your important accounts, if Google is involved you should make use of a very important blue button.
The Google password checkup button is a safety feature that can help with any passwords saved to your Google account.
It's common to save a password to Google when yous sign in via the Chrome browser or app.
Google saves your passwords safely and also rates them.
The tech giant explains: "Check the security of passwords that you’ve saved to your Google account.
"Find out if they were compromised, see how strong they are, and if you’ve used any more than once."
You may be asked to verify that you are the account holder when you click it.
After this, you'll be taken to a data page with information about all your saved passwords.
It will reveal how many passwords have been checked for how many websites and apps.
If you see a green tick and "No compromised passwords" then you're in luck.
Google says: "Based on our information, none of your saved passwords are compromised."
However, if you see a warning stating a password has been compromised you'll need to take action and change it quickly.
A scammer could have access to one of your accounts and delaying the password change gives them more time to steal important information and even money.
You'll also see information about how many passwords are considered weak and how many you've reused.
Google advised: "Use a unique password for every site or app.
"If someone discovers a reused password, it can be used to access your other accounts."
And, adds: "Weak passwords are easy to guess. Make sure that you’re creating strong passwords."
