A BRAND new emergency '"Armageddon" alarm is set to go off on Sunday.
The siren will blast out from iPhone and Android phones - even if they're set to silent.
It's meant to warn people about any impending serious threats to life, such as a natural disaster - and has been used in other countries for years.
Although the message can get past silent mode, there is a special way to switch it off.
There's a special area on iOS which lets you control emergency alerts.
This could be useful if you're working nights and don't fancy being woken up out of the blue.

But it's also essential for domestic abuse survivors who keep a secret phone hidden.
So here's how to switch the alerts off.
How to switch off emergency alerts on iPhone
Open the the Settings on your iPhone.
Look for Notifications.

Go to the bottom and find Severe alerts and Emergency alerts.
You can tap each one to switch them off.
How to switch off emergency alerts on Android
Android settings can vary from device to device depending on the manufacturer.
The simplest way is to open the Settings and search for "emergency alerts".
