“There's always an option to let us leak your data,” a message posted on the ransomware group’s website reads, next to Ring’s logo.

Earlier this month, the gang leaked medical data from the US-based Lehigh Valley Health Network and hacked the franchise operator of IHG and Hilton hotels worldwide.

ALPHV's mission purpose is clear: money.

Typically, if victims don’t pay, ALPHV threatens to publicly release the data stolen from them.

While Amazon-owned Ring hasn't specified the number of customers it has, its devices can be found in and outside millions of homes across the UK and US.

Their video devices have soared in popularity over the past few years, as people look to boost their home security.

A spokesperson for Ring told The Sun: "We currently have no indications that Ring has experienced a ransomware event."

Although the company told Motherboard that a third-party vendor had been hit with a cyberattack.

It's not clear what type of data ALPHV may have access to.

The vendor does not have access to customer records, Ring is reported to have said.

However, ALPHV have already proved that they are able to hack into Ring cameras, after doing so on a Discord livestream to harass unsuspecting owners in 2019.
