APPLE has reportedly tabled plans to bring a former popular model back into development.

Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the tech giant has restarted the iPhone SE 4 project.

Apple introduced an iPhone SE 3 into its iPhone 14 line up last year.

It is typically the cheapest device in each line up.

An economic downturn is currently squashing the consumer desire to buy brand new electronics.

So, it appears Apple is trying to appeal to consumers who are less keen on splashing the cash.

The iPhone SE 3 ranged between $429/£449 and $579/£609. While the iPhone SE 2 ranged from $399/£419 and $549/£569.

This is far more affordable than the iPhone 14 Pro, which retailed at £1,099.

At the beginning of the year, Ming-Chi Quo claimed the company had cancelled the fourth generation return of the popular iPhone SE model.

But the project is now back on track, he believes.

The smartphone is expected to use Apple's 5G chips, as well as a OLED display instead of an LCD screen.

It comes around six years after Apple ditched LCD screens in favour of OLED displays.

Apple's iPhone SE doesn't follow the same release schedule as the rest of the line up.

In previous years, Apple has introduced the iPhone SE model around March and April.

While Apple could surprise fans and squeeze it into its iPhone 15 line up, which is expected to arrive in September.

It is likely Apple will wait until 2024 to reveal the new device.

But it's not the only new model rumoured to be making its way to shelves next year.

The Sun has contacted Apple for comment.
