Over 20million Android users warned to delete three apps right now

MILLIONS of Android users have been told to delete three suspicious apps.

The activity-tracking apps are described as 'ad junkies', meaning they are chock full of adverts to make developers money with little pay-off for users.

The three 'problem' apps are Lucky Step, WalkingJoy and Lucky Habit.

They are all accessible via the Google Play store.

All three connect with the same command & control server, according to experts at software company Dr.Web.

These types of servers are typically used by cyber attackers to send directions to systems infected by malware.

The trio of apps currently have around 20million downloads.

The Lucky Step-Walking Tracker app promised users cash for walking.

Users were even lured into watching more adds for more rewards.

But it was eventually updated and the functionality that would convert rewards into cash was removed.

This meant all the rewards users had previously build up instantly became worthless.

"They were then offered several dozen more ads to watch in order to “speed up” the withdrawal process," said experts at Dr.Web.

"With that, the apps did not verify any of the payment-related data provided by users, so the chances of receiving any of the money promised from these apps are extremely small."

The more ads apps make users watch, the more money they make.

Cyber experts have advised Android users to not put their phones or virtual wallets at risk by downloading these apps.
