Microsoft Outlook and Teams back up after thousands left without email in mystery outage

Problems surfaced just as people across in the UK started logging on for work on Wednesday.

Affected services included Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Outlook, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Graph.

It all came about because of a bungled "network change".

Experts at the firm were forced to roll it back in a bid to reserve the damage.

It's not clear how many were left out in the cold.

But thousands of reports were detected by the site.

Confused users began flooding social media platforms trying to find out what was going on at around 7.30am GMT.

"I can't access my work email, it's just loading," one said at the time.

"I wonder if Microsoft laid off the wrong people," another joked, referencing the company's recent announcement that 10,000 people will lose their jobs.

"It's like the universe is giving us a day off from work, without even asking for it," a third added.

At 2.30pm GMT, the firm tweeted: "We've confirmed that the impacted services have recovered and remain stable.

"We're investigating some potential impact to the Exchange Online Service."
